Our client faced a series of serious allegations arising from a domestic context. He had been charged with multiple counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalking and intimidation, damaging property, and distributing intimate images. In total, he was facing thirteen criminal charges before the Local Court.

The prosecution relied heavily on the complainant’s statement, supported by photographic evidence and text message extracts. Given the seriousness of the allegations and the volume of charges, a custodial sentence was a real possibility if the matter resulted in convictions.

We undertook detailed preparation of the case, including a comprehensive review of the prosecution brief and careful analysis of each individual allegation. The matter proceeded to a defended hearing over three days, during which we cross-examined the complainant extensively.

Throughout the hearing, significant inconsistencies emerged in the complainant’s version of events. The evidence did not withstand scrutiny, and it became apparent that key parts of the allegations were unreliable.

The magistrate ultimately rejected the complainant’s account and returned not guilty verdicts on all thirteen charges.

Our client left court without a conviction or criminal record, having been fully acquitted of every allegation.
