Our client was captured by a fixed speed camera travelling more than 30 kilometres per hour over the posted limit in a Sydney tunnel. The images clearly identified the vehicle, the driver, and the signposted speed. The offence carried a minimum three-month disqualification upon conviction — a penalty that would have had severe consequences for our client’s livelihood.

The client relied on their licence to run a small business and maintain financial stability. A conviction and disqualification would have placed both at risk.

After entering an early plea of guilty, we guided the client through the preparation of persuasive supporting material. This included a formal apology, character references, proof of completion of a traffic offenders program, and evidence of the client's business and personal obligations.

At Sentence, we made submissions addressing the client's remorse, the absence of prior offences, and the impact a conviction would have on their future. The court was persuaded to impose a Conditional Release Order without conviction, allowing the client to retain their licence and continue supporting their business and family.
